Bolt for the Heart is pleased to announce a donation of 3 AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) to the Fishers, Indiana Police Department. AEDs provide an electrical shock to the heart in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.
The Fishers Police Department is committed to ensuring all of their patrol cars are equipped with life savings AED’s. “This is a tremendous initiative by the Fishers Police Department and one where we are honored to be able to help them become 100% deployed in every car, keeping people in Hamilton County safer.” Pierre Twer commented.
Fishers Police Chief Ed Gebhart stated, “Partnerships with organizations such Bolt for the Heart help ensure our officers have the tools necessary to provide the highest level of service to the residents of Fishers.” “Today’s donation of three AEDs provides each Fishers Police Officer quick access to this life saving device”, continued Chief Gebhart.
It shows you how important the FPD feels about keeping their citizens safe from sudden cardiac arrest (stopping of the heart) and how the community has embraced these efforts. Bolt for the Heart is a 501-C-3 not for profit organization that raises money through generous sponsors like IU Health, donations and a Thanksgiving morning, Family 5k run to buy AEDs for donation to first responders. Bolt has donated over 650 AEDs to date. This year they had a goal to finish outfitting the entire Indiana State Police Patrol team with 134 AEDs., this goal was accomplished. Bolt has donated 465 to the State Police to date.
