Orangetheory Fitness, Braden Business Systems, and Bolt for the Heart Announce Installation of First 24/7 Accessible AED on the Nickel Plate Trail in Fishers, Indiana
Fishers, IN – A lifesaving step forward in community safety was made possible today with the installation of the first outdoor, 24/7 accessible Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) on the Nickel Plate Trail. This milestone was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Orangetheory Fitness, Braden Business Systems, and Bolt for the Heart.
Orangetheory Fitness members, in partnership with Braden Business Systems, raised funds that allowed Bolt for the Heart to donate a Zoll AED, housed in a weather-resistant SaveStation cabinet. This 365-day outdoor environmental case is designed to protect the AED, ensuring it is rescue-ready year-round for anyone experiencing a sudden cardiac event on the Nickel Plate Trail. This is the first AED of its kind along the trail, with plans to expand the program, creating a safer community space for all.
Pierre Twer, President of Bolt for the Heart, expressed pride in the collaboration:
“We are so proud of this partnership with Orangetheory Fitness and Braden Business Systems in placing what we hope will be the first of many AEDs along the Nickel Plate Trail. Sudden cardiac events can present without warning, and this fully automated Zoll AED, with its voice-command feature, can guide anyone through a life-saving procedure. With CPR and an AED, the chance of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest increases by over 50%. Call, push, shock is what we tell people, and now, thanks to this initiative, any Good Samaritan on the trail has the tools to possibly save a life.”
Kaity Wachtel of Orangetheory Fitness highlighted the community’s commitment to health and safety:
“At Orangetheory Fitness, we take great pride in our partnership with Bolt for the Heart and the contributions we’ve been able to make to our community over the past nine years. Our 2023 campaign focused on raising funds to place SaveStations locally where we live, work, and play. Sudden cardiac events can happen at any time, any place, and to anyone. Access to a SaveStation AED during an emergency can truly be the difference between life and death. We’re incredibly grateful to the Braden family and their support in placing this SaveStation on the Nickel Plate Trail. We couldn’t have finalized this project without their generosity.”
This AED donation marks a crucial step in making Fishers a safer place for its residents and visitors alike, with the continued goal of expanding AED availability along the Nickel Plate Trail.
Founded in Carmel, IN, Bolt for the Heart is a not-for-profit charitable organization committed to saving lives through education, financial assistance, and the placement of life-saving AEDs in the hands of law enforcement officers.
