Dear Bolt for the Heart Thanksgiving Carmel 5K Registrant,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Bolt for the Heart, and our presenting sponsors: Indiana University Health and Performance Services, we thank you for participating in our TENTH annual 5K run/walk. 100% of the net proceeds of this event will go to buying AEDs, (automated external defibrillators) to be placed in central Indiana Sheriff and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police patrol cars. Your support will no doubt help save some one’s life.
As previously announced, we are having supply issues with our apparel (shirts and hats) and had to place the runners’ shirt order two weeks early. After the cut-off date all registrations were discounted to reflect no shirt. If you registered after the cut off, we will have a table of basic cotton Bolt shirts for $10.00 available on a first come basis.
We would like to go over a few things to make sure we have a smooth and efficient day that is safe for everyone.
We welcome The Hotel Carmichael as the host hotel for Bolt for the Heart. This is a first-class hotel partner that will serve us well as we prepare for our event. Thank you, Hotel Carmichael.
Online Registration has been extended until Tuesday November 23, midnight. Registration will close at that time, but will reopen at our packet pick up at The Carmichael Hotel from noon to 5pm and on race day morning until one hour prior to the race. Both registrations must be done online through the Bolt website registration link. There will be no paper registration at packet pick up or race morning. We ask that you bring your photo ID or a copy of your online registration form to pick up your bib and specially designed shirt.
For your convenience we have included an aerial overview of the Carter Center Green to locate important race morning areas. Multiple parking options have been highlighted, as well as packet pick up location, start / finish area, the beautiful Christkindlmarkt and ample restroom options.
The 5K course is a repeat of previous years and very fun to run or walk. We will start next to the Carter Center Green and Palladium and head west to Guilford. Go north on Guilford and take a sharp right on Main Street. Once we enter the Carmel Arts and Design District you will turn right onto our beautiful new Mid town section. We will run on the Monon Trail until reaching Gradle Drive, turn right on Third Ave and head to the finish line.
As we celebrate the Ten-year Anniversary of Bolt this year, we thank you for making Bolt for the Heart the meaningful event that it has become. With your help, Bolt has placed over 2200 AEDs in Indiana. We have many documented lives that have been saved by our law enforcement heroes and their AEDs. We continue this mission live again this year as we work towards placing AEDs in every law-enforcement car in Central Indiana. Thank you to the City of Carmel, Carmel Parks and Recreation for the support, the Mayor’s office and all the local agencies that have approved this race. Also, thank you to all the volunteers to help us put this event on for 2021.
