CARMEL, IN  – In a collaborative effort to enhance emergency response capabilities, Bolt for the Heart, in partnership with Indiana University Health, Performance Services, and OrangeTheory Fitness, among other generous donors, has contributed a total of 89 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). These crucial life-saving devices will be strategically placed in IMPD patrol cars to provide immediate assistance in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

The donation stems from the success of the 12th Annual Bolt for the Heart Thanksgiving 5K run held in Carmel last November. The event, which drew thousands of participants and garnered support from various organizations, including IU Health, Performance Services, and OrangeTheory Fitness, has become a cornerstone of community involvement and charitable giving.

Pierre Twer, President of Bolt for the Heart, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from participants and partners alike: “We are immensely grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of our annual event. This donation underscores our collective commitment to saving lives and to making a meaningful impact in our community.”

IMPD Acting Chief Chris Bailey extended appreciation for the donation, recognizing the significant role these AEDs will play in enhancing the department’s ability to respond to medical emergencies: “We deeply appreciate Bolt for the Heart’s generous donation, which will undoubtedly serve as a valuable resource for our officers in their life-saving efforts.”

This latest contribution brings the total number of AEDs donated by Bolt for the Heart and its partners to 339, reaffirming their dedication to supporting law enforcement and promoting public safety.

Founded in Carmel, IN, Bolt for the Heart is a not-for-profit charitable organization committed to saving lives through education, financial assistance, and the placement of life-saving AEDs in the hands of law enforcement officers.
