Bolt for the Heart presents Virtual 5K | Quarantine Challenge

Friends,

As many of you know, our mission at Bolt for the Heart is to serve the state of Indiana, particularly those affected by heart disease, through education, financial support and direct assistance. We have for the last 5 years specifically focused on placing Automated external defibrillators (AED’s) in our law enforcement heroes patrol cars.  This will continue to be our driving enthusiasm and mission, however there are other everyday heroes in our community whose skills and expertise are needed more than ever with this COVID-19 virus, our Healthcare Heroes.  Nurses, PA’s, physicians are taking on a herculean task of caring for those with symptoms and those inflicted and admitted with this virus.

To all of you HEROES, the Bolt for the Heart Team, supporters and sponsors say THANK YOU!

We would like to show our appreciation for your important work by introducing the Virtual Quarantine Challenge 5K Run, walk, row or climb presented by Bolt for the Heart.   We encourage you to go to this link (GMR) and register, then go to a place within your home or neighborhood (following social distancing mandates) to participate in this virtual 5K. Take some time and do something good for your health while knowing that 100% of your donation — to Bolts 501c3 charitable organization — will go to provide coffee  and delicious bakery items from our local friends at Java House and Titus Bakery.   The virtual event will start March 28th and go until April 5th.  We will apply all of these funds to providing breakfast and lunches to the central Indiana Hospitals Emergency Departments and dedicated COVD-19 floors / wards.  Registration will open Wednesday March 25th and the first 100 Registered will receive a Bolt medal and a long sleeve cotton shirt.  You will also have the option to download and print a Bolt Quarantine Challenge race bib to wear while completing your virtual race to let others know you are helping your community by your participation.

We will also have the option to just make a tax free donation.  Bolt will pay all associated fees.

We have approvals from administration of our central Indiana Hospital to deliver Java House and Titus Bakery goodies on April 1st and 2nd.  Depending on the support from all of you will determine if we will be delivering lunches as well.  The Indiana State Police and WISHTV have offered their assistance in the delivery on April 1 and 2nd.   Thank you for this important out reach.

Susan and I along with other Bolt board members will be making a contribution to kick off the donations.   It is my hope that, whether you want to do the 5K Challenge or just want to be a part of this event by making a donation,  we can provide every health care hero in the Emergency Department and COVID-19 related floor, a special THANK YOU from the Bolt Family.  Their work is important meaningful and so appreciated, especially in these times.
