Your Thanksgiving Day “Family Tradition” Bolts Forward as Virtual 5K for 2020

For Immediate Release.

August 31, 2020

Dear Bolt for the Heart Family,

We all have had to deal with this lifechanging pandemic that has touched many families. We hope that you and your families have stayed healthy and positive during this time.

We have been working very closely with the local governmental agencies regarding our 9th Annual Bolt for the Heart Thanksgiving Family 5K. This race morning has become a tradition for many families and an opportunity to burn a few calories prior to “replacing” them.  Sadly, all outdoor events in Carmel have been cancelled for 2020, and this includes the Bolt. However, we have decided to move forward with a 5K virtual run.   The good news about this option is that after you register, we will send you the 2020 Bolt long sleeve shirt, custom bib, and finishers medal.  We will also offer a Facebook live event Thanksgiving morning to include interviews from our local Law enforcement Heroes, the national anthem, a powerful story of a sudden cardiac save with an AED, a prayer and countdown to send you off virtually from your homes and neighborhoods.  You are welcome to run this 5K at your leisure at any time between November 1st and December 4TH. Final race package mailing will be December 5th.

While there is nothing that can take the place of a live run, the other good news about a virtual run is that a great deal of expense of having a live event is reduced and that means more of your registration and sponsorship/donation dollars will go to buying AED’s for our Hometown Law Enforcement Heroes. Through your participation over the years, we have placed nearly 800 AED’s in our Indiana Police cars and this year will only help that goal.

Registration is open Today, September 1st.   Register today and receive a $5 early bird discount.  As always, a Family of four will get the 5Th person at no charge.  Perky Turkeys (over 75) run for free (please register).

On behalf of the board at Bolt for the Heart and our many sponsors, thank you, stay healthy and cautious as we look forward to a successful virtual event.

Respectfully,

Pierre M. Twer

President- Bolt for the Heart
