100 AEDS BEING DONATED TO THE INDIANAPOLIS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Bolt for the Heart, in partnership with IU Health, Performance Services and Orange Theory Fitness are donating 100 life-saving AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) to the IMPD. This donation is made possible by our wonderful sponsors as well as the thousands of runners and walkers who participated at our 11th Annual Bolt for the Heart 5K run in Carmel, Thanksgiving morning.

“Seeing this support from our participants and the generous donations by our sponsors continues to amaze and inspire all of us at Bolt for the Heart. The women and men of the IMPD now have over 250 AEDs, donated by Bolt and friends to help save someone’s life in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. These IMPD Hometown Heroes are, without a doubt, better prepared to increase the chances of saving someone’s life.” – Pierre M. Twer, President of Bolt for the Heart

“Partnering with Bolt for the Heart has been beneficial in giving critical tools to our officers which aide our community when they find themselves involved in a medical crisis. We believe that empowering our officers with the right tools can only help to save lives.” – Chief Randal Taylor, Chief of IMPD

“For us, the best cardiac arrest is the one that doesn’t happen, so our focus at IU Health is really on supporting our patients and communities in their efforts to stay healthy. When a heart event does occur, early intervention can make all the difference in the world. Helping get AEDs into the hands of people who are often the first on the scene absolutely saves lives and improves the outcome for those patients.” – Mark Fisch, MD, Cardiologist with IU Health North Hospital

Bolt for the Heart was established in 2010 and is a 501c3 charitable organization. Our mission is to educate on the importance of CPR and the use of an AED and provide donations to not for profit organizations in need, especially our law enforcement heroes.
