IMPD Receives 25 More AEDs, through IU Health and Bolt For The Heart Partnership

Bolt for the Heart is pleased to announce that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will receive 25 AED’s today.   This donation was made possible by a contribution from Indiana University Health.

“IU Health continues to be a great supporter of Bolt for the Heart and our goal of placing a life-saving AED in every law enforcement car in the state of Indiana.  As we have already completed equipping the Indiana State Police with AED’s in each of their cars, our focus has shifted to equipping every Sheriff vehicle in Indiana. Bolt is also embarking on a goal of equipping all 1100 IMPD patrol cars with AED’s. We are grateful to the continued support from IU Health as it continues to focus on patient care and safety in our community.”
Pierre Twer – President, Bolt for the Heart

“Our law enforcement heroes need to have these tools (AED) because they are often the first to a scene to offer help.   Every officer is trained on CPR and the use of an AED.  The success of survival increases dramatically when an AED is used.  Our goal is assure that our IMPD officers have the tools they need to save lives in our community.” Twer added.

Bolt for the Heart is a 501-C-3 not for profit organization that raises money through generous supporters like IU Health, other donations and a Thanksgiving morning Family 5k run to buy AEDs for donation to first responders. Bolt has donated over 1000 AEDs to date in law enforcement patrol cars in Indiana.
